How the firm came to be
Josh Knight grew up in St. Charles, attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, and then went on to St. Louis University School of Law. After receiving his Juris Doctor in 2003, he chose to come home and open a practice serving the same community where he was raised. That decision continues to define the firm. Knight Law is not a regional branch of a larger operation. It is a local practice, with local clients, local relationships, and a long memory.
A background that shapes the practice
Before law school, Josh worked as a Missouri State Probation and Parole Officer. That experience taught him something law school cannot: how the legal system actually affects real people, in real time, after the courtroom empties. It is why the firm puts such a premium on plain language, honest assessments, and on treating each case as a person's story, not a file number.
His undergraduate background in social work runs through the practice in a similar way. Family law clients in particular are often dealing with the most difficult moment of their lives. Steady counsel, careful preparation, and clear communication are not amenities. They are the work.
What you can expect from us
Clients of Knight Law are kept informed at every stage. You will know what your options are, what we are doing on your behalf, and what realistic outcomes look like. We answer the phone. We return calls. When something changes in your case, you hear it from us first, and we explain what it means before we recommend a course of action.
We also believe educated clients are better clients. The more you understand the law that governs your situation, the better the decisions you make, together with us, will be. That philosophy informs every consultation, every strategy session, and every courtroom appearance.
Our values
- Honesty. Plain advice, even when the news is hard. You deserve to make decisions based on what is true, not what is comfortable.
- Local knowledge. Two decades of practice in St. Charles County means a working understanding of the courts, opposing counsel, and the local procedures that shape outcomes.
- Practical counsel. A good lawyer wins cases. A great lawyer knows when fighting and when settling each serve the client best.
- Personal attention. You are not handed off. Josh is personally involved in every matter the firm takes on.
